Organ Pipes
Our organ pipe is assembled from a special size of PVC pipe and a piece of wood dowel. The pipe can be played like a trombone or the tuning sleeve can be left off of the pipe. The pipe can be used as an open or stopped pipe and the mouth can be adjusted to adjust the balance of overtones that are produced when the pipe is sounded.
Here is the organ pipes page.  Here are the organ pipes videos in mp4 (12 MB .mp4 file), mov (80 MB .mov file) or wmv (42 MB .wmv file) for dowloading.

Weighing the Atmosphere
This is an easy way to measure atmospheric pressure. This experiment is better for a small class rather than  a Noon Science experiment: the cost of materials is above our Noon Science limit, but the experiment is great for a class experiment that will be performed each semester or for a home school situation. It can be modified to use for students from elementary grades to college. Download the page here .

Magnet Puzzle (a.k.a. Malevolent Magnet Monster From Mars)
I composed this video because my daughter came home with an "assessement" (what used to be called a quiz) from a lesson on electricity and magnetism from the popular FOSS science program for elementary schools and I found that one of the questions was - how shall we say it - "flawed".  So this is a work-in-progress demonstration that teachers or parents might find useful for part of a 4th or 5th grade magnetism unit.  Download streaming video in mp4 (130 MB .mp4 file), mov (80MB .mov file) or wmv (116 MB .wmv file) formats. Web pages and more magnetism lessons to follow.  Also see electric motor and generator experiments on catalog pages 1 and 2.
